DARREN MOYER - HUMAN CONNECTION STRATEGIST
Sunday Apr 12, 2020
Sunday Apr 12, 2020
DARREN MOYER
Darren, a California native, has been in Colorado for over a decade and though he didn't receive a formal education, he has vast experience in human capital. Out of High School Darren started what became a 15 year career in Recruiting & Staffing which began by cold calling through the phone book, A to Z, asking companies if they were looking to add staff and then cold calling people to ask if they were looking for a job. What a way to learn! Darren believes just taking action is a big part of finding success. Darren became a master at seeing the needs of people and connecting them with others who can help/support them during his time as a recruiter. He realized the power of connecting people and the benefits for others and himself. After 15 years in recruiting, the last 5 of which he owned his own Executive Search Firm, Darren found himself asking, “Is this it?... - There must be something more to life than this” so he closed his company and began an adventure of self-exploration to discover what really matters to him in life. In this time, he realized that instead of pursuing success that significance was far more important. He believes authenticity, vulnerability, and trust are keys to developing social capital. Trust is the foundation of social capital and from trust, success is inevitable. When there is no trust or trust is lost, we become fragmented and isolated from those around us. Darren promotes effective communication and reminds us that much of what we say is nonverbal and is said by our body language and our willingness to listen. He encourages us to ask better questions, go deeper and get beyond the surface in our relationships. He sees every situation as an opportunity to serve and add value to those we encounter. Darren’s passion comes from his faith and his spirituality - he often asks “What is your Truth?” and encourages us to dive deep into that question for ourselves. Darren is currently involved in “a whole lot of giving” and emphasizes the importance of giving more than we take in life. Darren is involved in a number of companies including Apeiron, a Social Capital Firm, Core Ventures, a business consulting firm focused on leadership/strategy/culture consulting and recruiting/staffing solutions, and is a Spiritual Director for the Way, a community of men that desire spiritual development and to find clarity and purpose in all areas of life.

CHRIS LONIGRO - VANGUARD AND CEO OF GENERATION DEVELOPMENT
Sunday Mar 29, 2020
Sunday Mar 29, 2020
CHRIS LONIGRO
Chris, a Chicago native and long-time Denver resident, grew up at his dad’s side, working with his hands building and repairing things. After college, he started his career in construction at a large national builder where he spent time in the field and at their corporate office. As a Project Superintendent, Chris gained experience in building homes from the ground up. He became passionate about making special places by having thoughtful design. In the recession, Chris found himself in need of a job, so he launched his own company. In 2010, Chris built his first project, a 9 unit condo building in LoHi, Denver. Denver’s condo market was very challenging for developers/builders as a result of construction defect litigation and very few were taking the risk to build condos. Chris credits relationships for his ability to successfully start and grow his company during this time. Fast forward 10 years to today, Chris is doing what was said could not be done and he is successfully building condos (and now office buildings) in the Colorado market. Chris has been a trail-blazer and believes there is opportunity to be found in challenging situations. He encourages us to “Treat people how you want to be treated”, view this (life) as a long-term play and own your mistakes. Chris’ goal at the end of the day is to help those around him reach their goals and he is passionate about helping those around him find their place.

Sunday Mar 22, 2020
Sunday Mar 22, 2020
TERI KARJALA
Teri, a Kansas native, got her first taste of entrepreneurship when she was 7 years old, she would take her mom’s makeup and repurpose it and sell it back to her mom. These kind of experiences have paved the way for where Teri is today. In high school, Teri became a Care Counselor and later received her Masters Degree in Counseling. Teri created a very large counseling practice that now successfully runs without her daily attention. She has launched a new business called Talking with Teri, where she provides entrepreneurs training and coaching them how to get out of their own way and living the life they were meant to live. Teri is an expert at muscle testing and is passionate about helping people create mindsets that empower them to live their dreams. Teri believes Social Capital is essential to building a successful business. She sees two ways to build your business 1. the marathon: building long-term, committed relationships that take time to develop 2. the sprint: speaking engagements, connection with an audience in a short period of time. Utilizing both of these can help fill and keep the pipeline full. Collaborations and connections are key to building social capital. Teri loves to give gifts and showing gratitude; she does this alot by sending handwritten Thank You notes to people she meets. She encourages us to have a mindset of “adding value” to those you around you. Check out the book, The Go-Giver, for great lessons in finding success through giving. The current marketing trend right now is all about experiences and connection with other humans. Teri gives us a fun tool to work with to create more positivity and possibility in our daily life. “How much better can it get!?” - try it! CRYSTAL RUSSELL - FOUNDER, CEO, DESIGNER, DISRUPTOR
Sunday Mar 15, 2020
Sunday Mar 15, 2020
CRYSTAL RUSSELL
Crystal, a Colorado native and fifth generation Edgewater resident, was raised by military parents, Crystal and her twin sister, often struggled financially when they were young and despite all odds, she received a scholarship to attend college at Philadelphia University. While in college, Crystal was at the top of her class and without knowing it at the time, she met the other two top students in her class, who would later become her business partners at TVL Creative! After graduating, Crystal returned to Colorado to look for work during the recession where she began to connect with influencers in the creative world and went on to receive 2 masters degrees. After spending some time as a “glorified secretary” she grew frustrated and decided to self teach herself 3D renderings and then was asked to come back to Philadelphia University to develop a program and teach for them. While there, she also worked with a small construction company as their lead designer where she was able to put her education to use and learn hands on in the field for three years. In 2012, Crystal’s father passed away and it was an eye opening time for her, so she quit everything she had going in Philadelphia and went back to Denver to start her own business. She googled how to start a business and just went for it! She used her unique skill of creating 3D renderings to build a portfolio of her ideas and begin to brand herself. She began to get calls right away and was able to score her first 7 clients very quickly and her business was off and running! As she became increasingly busy, she realized she needed to grow her team, so she reached out to the other two ladies who were top of her class in Philadelphia University, Faris and Ashley, and they joining the TVL Creative team. In 2019, Crystal and her team changed their business model and are turning the traditional construction model upside down! They have become a full service design build company bringing all of their trades/subcontractors in-house to create a seamless, efficient process for their clients.
Crystal is passionate about good design being available to everyone, not only the elite, and she is committed to making quality design available to everyone who desires it. She encourages listeners to go all in on their dreams, remember that failure is not failure - it's feedback, and to be approachable to those around you. She encourages us to be authentically ourselves and #dontbeadick.

MATT STEWART - SOCIAL CAPITALIST AND WEALTH MANAGEMENT EXPERT
Sunday Feb 16, 2020
Sunday Feb 16, 2020
MATT STEWART
Matt, a true Social Capitalist, was born in rural Pennsylvania and was a very shy and introverted kid. He went to college at Coastal Carolina University and while there he found an internship at a country club/golf course in Colorado. He became a Class A, Golf Pro while going to college and graduated with a marketing degree. Thanks to an introduction by mutual friends, he moved to Colorado and began working at Cherry Hills Country Club in 2005, where he worked for six years as a golf pro. Matt believes that the quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life and that creating positive memorable experiences for those you encounter will change how you engage with the people around you. As this became more clear to him, he realized he needed to make a career change. Matt left the golf industry to enter Wealth Management with Northwestern Mutual where developing strong, genuine relationships built on trust is his focus. Matt’s philosophy to develop social capital is built on being serendipitous towards encounters with people, being curious about others and being a servant leader. He looks for opportunities to add value to those around him; anticipating their needs and ways to provide solutions and help them. Matt believes showing appreciation is the most underutilized tool for building social capital out there. You get the best out of people when they feel good about you - simple exercises of showing appreciation yield 10x returns. Matt is passionate about social capital and believes that next to our health, social capital is the most important thing that you have. He shares scientific research that shows that our social relationships dictate our health. Integrity is a key ingredient of cultivating social capital and building a strong reputation. He urges us to be cautious connecting to closely with those who lack integrity. Power Partners are an important piece of building social capital through creating an ecosystem of people who share your mindset and values and will represent you well as the network continues to grow - be willing to invest in them first! Today, Matt continues to help people through financial advisement and his involvement with Project Helping whose mission is to create innovative ways to improve mental wellness. He would love to hear from you if you would like to get involved. In closing, Matt reminds us of Jim Carey’s quote, “The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency that you have”.

Sunday Feb 09, 2020
DENNIS POLK
Dennis is a trial lawyer who has practiced law for over forty years has been instrumental in cases and litigation that surround construction and construction defects. Coming from humble beginnings, Dennis, credits the gateway of home ownership as the way that his parents were able to provide for him throughout his life. He is passionate about seeing people own homes of their own and advocating for the construction industry and the people involved in it. Dennis believes face to face and personal conversations are hugely important in establishing strong relationships with those around us. He believes every action we take towards one another plays a part in the big picture of building social capital. Principle #1: Integrity only comes in ONE size. Principle #2: the Circle of Friendship - once you are inside the circle of friendship, you are always there. If you have done something that puts you outside the circle of friendship, admit that you are wrong, take a step back and readdress what has happened to get back on track. Dennis suggests that we become involved in public service and become involved in the community around you. He believes our lives are enriched by having a life outside our professional life helping us to be well-rounded people. He encourages us to show older people reverence and to be willing to meet the other person where they are. Technology aids with time management and Dennis encourages us to master technology to help us become more efficient in our daily activities. He reminds us to take time to care for ourselves, travel the world and take time to spend in nature. Currently, Dennis is taking on the “No Growth” litigation we face in Colorado and he’s finishing a book that he plans to be released soon.
